Turk meets small dogs and a kitty

A friend visited here for a couple of days and brought 2 small dogs and a kitty cat along with some greyhounds.  It was the PERFECT chance to check Turk's tolerance of small critters!

He'd met cats and small dogs at the clinic and at M&G's but, since he was nervous and anxious, it's hard to know if he was just too distracted to show his "real feelings".

Here at the house, though, he's a lot more relaxed, and he really saw them and really knew they were little critters.  Perfect testing time!!

First he met a beautiful fluffy chocolate-colored cat - yum yum, chocolate, lol.

Please don't let her bite me!

If I stand real still, maybe she won't see me.

You don't smell like chocolate.

If I don't look at her, maybe she'll just go away.

OK, so the cat-testing went well!  Turk showed no interest in Chocolate (yes, that's her name), and was never fixed or focused on her.  Turk appears to be cat-safe!

The next day, we let Turk meet the two small dogs.  Only Annie came over to meet him.

Whassat?
Rug rat?

Annie wanted to get to know Turk.
Sniff sniff...

Turk was not as interested in getting to know Annie.

Are we done yet???

Turk showed no aggression or interest in the small dog.  He appears to be small-dog safe as well.

Yea, Turk!

Always remember, though, that how a greyhound reacts to a smaller animal INDOORS can be very different from how they react to THE SAME animal OUTSIDE

Even small-animal-safe greyhounds may not recognize an indoor companion when they're outside.  Sudden movements or odd sounds by small pets can trigger the prey drive in an otherwise "safe" hound, and it can quickly lead to tragedy.

NEVER trust your greyhound outdoors with a small dog or cat!
